Political foes

If anyone of you had noticed, its been a while since I touched anything on our political state of affairs. I don’t think I can come up with a better reason than trying my best to shed this socio-political blogger image that I’ve been carried over my head which I can very much do without.

Just being realistic, I simply don’t have the cut to become one. Another attempt and I might end up writing the most slanderous and libellous political piece that would make even the likes of Utusan feel like a greenhorn spinner.

The thing about politics is, it has become somewhat predictable. Take the on-going amno’s nomination process for instance; the odds are on Muhyiddin to take the number 2 spot. Betting against him would be like putting your money on Titus Bramble to walk away with FIFA's best player award.

Even the US presidential election held recently, you don’t need Madam Zora to tell you of the eventual outcome.

And politics, it divides people. Even the gayest of bedfellows –let alone strangers- would not hesitate having a go at each other’s throat, all in the name of defending their respective political beliefs.

We are passionate lot, strongly believe in the party of our choice and their struggle. Tell me something new. Not a single political figure is sparred from being criticised for being one of the front-liners of a party that does not suit the critic’s taste bud.

By all means man, take a shot or 3.

But when a critic takes a swipe at his buddy for upholding the latter’s political stand, that is as far I can stomach and exactly where my line is drawn.

Friendship goes beyond everything, including politics. But apparently not to some over-charged ‘political pundits’, which is a sad case.

Politics is a game played by politicians. If one feels like delving into it so much, go ahead and join a party of your choice. Stand up and lick your master’s bottom. Once a big shot party man, you’re a class above your former friend. This is the time you can kick his bottom real good because you’re an established politician and he is…well, JUST another one of your ex-friends.

I am however, a friend of you lot. Do consider me as yours too for reason I am not a politician. I may be a Mahathirist as we are fondly known nowadays, or a PAS sympathiser for that little twist of political unpredictability. But above all, I am just like you people who shits every morning, and who may share common interests in football, rock & roll or even favourite porn stars for that matter.

Its not difficult to just sit together over a few glasses of Teh tarik without touching on this petty topic we could do without, or is it?

Its almost 5am, I’m off to bed now.

Politics should not in anyway drive a wedge between friendship. Friendship that can withstand political differences and alignments is true pure friendship otherwise it is only acquaintanceship.

Kerpie: remember our lunch the other day :)) I mentioned there are 3 topics I classify as the turbulent trilogy - sex, politics and religion.

yet all three are very much the part of everyday conversations in one form or the other ...

but I think we shared a lovely lunch the other day because we might have some commons and a whole load of non-commons between us but first and foremost, we respect each other as individuals ... and we are friends

If people understood a differing opinion is not the end of the world but possibly the start of finding a middle ground, I think perhaps we could be better friends, politicians, nations of diverse people.

But alas that remains in my utopian hopes :) akka loves ya big time Kerpie ... you're super special!

Politics can turn frens into foes and the other way round too! Look at AI and the Lims(Kit Siang n Guan Eng). Suddenly kawan baik for political purposes!

Cikgu, sir!

Hell yes, you’re always good at putting it better than I ever could. And we’ll prove friendship goes beyond everything next week!

Bala ji,

Been very busy la chief, trying to earn extra money here and there. Perhaps I’ll join politics and make some moolah out of it…and ofcos gets to screw some chicas, ala vijendran la…or soi lek or rahim thamby chik…muahahaha…

Akka!

Yes, couldn’t agree more. Sounds a bit cliché but we tend to agree to disagree more. At the end of the day, we’re cool, just like friends always do. It was a wonderful lunch, a toast to you for making it possible. And today too, woke up to moz’s sms, couldn’t getany better than that. luv ya.

Kak Pi!

Komen la akak…takut eh? Alaa…kamunting dgn ipoh dekat je…hehehehe…

Gavin,

Yea, never thought of that. from foes to the closest of buddies. Thanks for the reminder, bro.

Akka,

Ok, see ya on Saturday!!

CDO,

You wouldn’t be interested anyway. This was a boring drama, ala fake reality shows. Read; the apprentice.

Karen,

Excessive politics ultimately leads to war.

Pak ZAB,

Wsalam. And thanks. I’m a people’s person…hehe…

Hai Kerp,
What are you doing still up at 5am? If thinking about politics pls stop it .... not good for body and soul. Kalau tengah rehat tahjud kira okla tu ... carry on.

Could not agree with you more Kerp, FRIENDSHIP goes beyond, POLITICS, RACE and even RELIGION. Friendship is about universal love, common sense and sixth sense heheee. I guess it doesn't make sense .... well that friendship to me.

Kerp, bukan takut tapi memang tak suka bab-bab politics ni... not good for my health. Doesn't matter lah that Ipoh GH tak jauh dari rumah I. ;)

Kerp: I also agree with AD. You should get into politics. then no need to work so hard to make some extra money. Just sign here and sign there.... boom...Hehehehee.

Don't forget to include me into any some of the project and open tenders OK. hehehe

But yes... me fondly remembers slamming some friends with regards to politics as well....and of course, getting into heated arguments... Good thing is, we still talk and we are still friends... so i guess that is a good thing right?

Ish! if I let my differences come between alotta people I wont be close friends with them.

Bodoh sangat ke diorang? Aku baru 21 pun dah tahu. Old farts like em tataw ke?

Kerp (Ph.D) said...

Dato J,

You got that right, sir. Friendship goes beyond everything, especially RACE.

· kerja till 5 la dato. Graveyard shift…hehehhe…

kak Pi,

ok la, gotta give it to you la…politics can be boring at times anyway.

Rajan,

It is a good thing. You can argue till cows come home but at the end of the day you cant let politics ruin your friendship. That’s silly. I myself am staying away from any political argument becos it’ll be endless.

Unless ofcos, if I’m a politician, I’m always right…muahahaha…

T man!

Very true la macha. I wouldn’t have as many good buddies as now. Political difference is just like supporting a different football club.

Danny, you wrote:But when a critic takes a swipe at his buddy for upholding the latter’s political stand, that is as far I can stomach and exactly where my line is drawn.

Check Sunday Star (Focus)9 Nov. and tell me who started this. Yet I kept quiet. But I had taken him off my blog roll long time ago. I am told you promised Rocky your support. It is perfectly OK by me. Perfectly OK, and i will still care for you if I have to.

Kerp (Ph.D) said...

Uncle Bernard,

Yes, but by throwing my support for Rocky does not, by any means, turning my back against you. This must not be taken personally.

I actually read that piece on that particular Sunday itself. I may got it wrong but if I remember clearly rocky only said you harris and rpk are either inspired or sponsored. he could have been more brutal and claim you guys are actually being sponsored.

There could be more than meet the eye between you guys but as far I’m concerned, he’s been fairly neutral in his writings. And that’s where my support solely lies. Period.

My apology if it bothers you. Never my intention to turn my back against anyone, especially you. I always admire all the cause you’ve been fighting for. Even supported most of them albeit silently. But sometimes I need to follow where my heart lies, which unfortunately is not on your side this time around.

Again, my sincerest apology sir.

tuan kerpaul,

i got a slogan for the day, in light of the current reduction in fuel prices and other prices generally across the board (inclusive of condoms, latex whips, a shot of tequilla pop a pop pop, cyncially sweared, pledged and engraved-in-blood reductions of 10 sen in roti canai prices,etc...amongst others)..er...yeah...uhm..the slogan is as follows:

"naik macam ribut.
turun macam siput.."

macam sial. probably its and old and redundant; 2-carat pantun obligingly sung to fellas with fat moz-like bottoms when they played the swing, see-saw or sliding down frightful hilly contures on wilting cocunut fronds, but can't fathom a better description to a freakingly undescribably situation.

yours appreciatively,
moz.

p.s. see ya saturday dude.

Hi Danny,

Haha...I was watching the US presidential election 'mocks', where people dress up and imitate the candidates...

You gotta watch this one man: http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/vp-debate-open-palin-biden/727421/

If you have the time, that is...

Kerp (Ph.D) said...

Mozzz,

True la. Instead of reducing the oil price gradually, make it like how they increased it. btw, nasi kandar has dropped 10sen. Not sure if this move will lessen my financial burden and make me rich or not…muahahaha…you’re the economist, you tell me bro.

Ridzwan,

I’ve replied to you personally. Couldn’t get any better than that…hehe

MAS SALO,

Janine bro, JANINE LINDERMULDER….muahahahaaa…who’s yours btw?

Daph,

Of course I got the time but unfortunately the video is no longer available lah. Not sure why.

*hey D, need you to do me a favour. Basically to promote autism awareness. I will get the details first and then if you have the time, have a look at it first. Thanks.

there was a time i believed bloggers (of diverse beliefs, kiblat, whatever) could sit down at the same able, have meals and just chat, debate and discuss.

aah... shortlived.

take care.

and when do we see you at mee rebus next?

Kerp (Ph.D) said...

Kak Ena!

its real sad actually. I mean, in the name of politics, by all means go ahead and slug it out till the break of dawn but it must end there. bcos above all, we are friends first and foremost. political enemies can come 2nd or 3rd, who cares.

we have a wondeful opportunity to prove that friendship goes beyond one's political inclination this saturday. time to just chill and kill politics for a day.

i assume madam elviza has extended the invitation to you. really hope to see you there.

thanks kak ena.

kerpov,
Let us go back to the Malaccan Sultanate era where there was no politics and the Sultan rules. It was easier to get your foe silenced back then as telling the Sultan that your foe had done something wrong and he will have your foe's head chopped off. Even Hang Tuah was given the death sentence but fortunately Mamak Bendahara was a sane man.

Kerp...There are few that I do not agree in politics..but treat them as friends...One of them...is you. The others are...Sheih and Rocky...plus kata tak nak.
Few real NGOs are my true heroes.
Don't listen to sweet words....put out by any political bloggers...that will sell their services to highest bidders.
Just trace back all the past three years events.....and you can clearly see who they are.
They have no principles in life..and are pure thick skin actors.
Attan aka Rockybru.. can be anything..but he is.. no balls carrier is what I keep noticing.
His greatest weakness...is born with a face of a hero...had a successful working background...where hordes of vultures were trying to use him...one way or another...to be a political...slime dogs...to be..like them.
At last...he changed and put his foot down...not enough..,he still have to get rid of certain labels...but he must not be forced to do anything. He will wake up the the truths soon.
Sheih was fast...to distant himself away from that pack of hyenas.
Having said this..you are very smart and sharp.
Take care.

Coming back to present, I think nowadays the royalties make more sense than all politicians combined. But ofcos without getting any rakyat’s head beheaded, just a little bit of sense to be put into the head.

Mr goh,

Yes, I don’t agree totally with cikgu kata tak nak but above all we’re friends. And to me that’s all that matters. Thanks. unfortunately I have to delete your 2nd comment bcos it’s a personal attack against someone whom I really respected. Hope you understand. Thank you.
