Back to resuscitate?

She’s back.

The new cabinet line-up named earlier today saw Datuk Sharizat Jalil, the newly elected Wanita Chief back in ministerial business, taking over the Women, Family and Development portfolio, in which she’s not unfamiliar with.

It will be interesting to see how Sharizat perform this time around after being given another shot at proving her worth.

During her predecessor’s (and successor) time, Datuk Ng Yen Yen’s contribution towards the disabled community wasn’t something she can be proud of. Her decision to upgrade the JKM from the RM200 million allocated especially was a bad call. It should by right, channelled directly to the community as in these trying times every crips in the country could do very much with extra cash in hand.

Sharizat’s (re)appointment has renewed some hopes (at least to me). Najib’s agenda of ‘People First, Performance Now’ should be heeded by the new Madame minister if she wishes to kick it off with a good report card to gloat about.

For a start, she can look into the community’s age-old woe concerning the Disabled Working Allowance (EPC) and consider a 100% increment because apart from the economic slump, jacking it up is long overdue.

Re-branding the JKM is not urgently necessary. The exercise can always wait.

If they want to go into re-branding, it's their services they should look into, not their outlook.

Salam Kerp,

The brand must match with the essence. Often times, "people" dok buat branding for the outerskin, "they" forgot the deliverables that should critically be the substance underneath.

Hopefully she'll steer the necessary changes.

p/s Pity Datuk Noraini no longer the deputy HR Minister. She was championing the employment of OKUs in private sector, the least that I know.

Salam kerpie,

I agree with Pi Bani. Further, all these so called 'rebranding exercise' are only meant to spent money unnecessarily and fatten the pockets of those not in need. And as always, every new head will come out with their own slogans and what not, only for it to remain as such - rhetoric.

KakPi,

Spot on. Its high time they pull their acts together anyway.

Hamdi,

InsyaAllah bro. aku memang dah nekad nak push EPC ni kasi naik mendadak. Doa je laa…

IBU!

Yes, she was chosen as part of the ‘people first performance now’ agenda. Channelling the money to a gomen agency is not what you consider as people first.

And I am all for leaders fighting for our cause.

Shah,

Yes bro, its totally unnecessary. They should have bucked up a long long time ago. But no, of all the time in the world they could have done it, they chose to do it during the recession, when there are others who needed the fund the most.

Bro kerp, me has me doubts la. BN of late has a tradition of ignoring large portions of the electorate, nevermind a small marginlised community like OKUs.

If they can ignore the Chinese voters at both Bukits who are disgruntled with land titles, what makes you think they will do anything to help you.

Of course, me is naturally biased against BN & all it stands fer. But so far, BN has done fook all to prove me wrong . . .

CDO,

She’s back…be very afraid…wooo…hehehe…

Mr goh,

Wishing amno’s bigwigs to be investigated is like wishing upon a star la uncle.

Bala ji,

Bro, I can fully understand your disgruntlement. In fact we all do. The sentiment amongst the lads in the community is not in the gov’s favour. But we are always hopeful becos the recent by-election defeats might just, wake them up.

Kerp bro...
personally i really don't like the term rebranding because it's used for ,more commercial and bussiness
sense..
as a government your main concerning is to heed to the need of the people... not the other way around...
a lot of tings can bee done..but still they keep on stagnating why is that...?
Compared to countries like Germany..sweden...denmark and norway
where the standard of the living is high...they really take care if their citizen...
Women..children old n young jobless or employed and so on...
why cant they learn from them...
If you look around bro many things in malaysia is overpriced...car,road tolls.goods,
while
education and medical cost is sky rocketing.... nothing is being done..
everyone wants to jaga therr own perut...especially the ppl in the higher post...
if build building which contractor is gone give them the highest cut..

anba,

thanks, and i can fully agree with you. the thing about rebranding is, its the internal refurbishment that counts. the outer looks is secondary. i'm all for the former even if the latter is crappy-like.

PM stressed today the new cabinet will prioritise on the people. not sure if we should buy that but since it has been too long, like it or not, am keeping my fingers crossed.

Kerp: I am extremely doubtful of this so called re-branding-lah. When bodohwi first came into power, he said he wanted to clean up corruption and improve govt services. If anything, i think things have become worse... especially the bribery bit and KJ literally printing money for himself.... more than Bank Negara.

So i dunno-lah.... guess we just gotta wait and see. but in terms of putting me trust in the new Govt... i dunno yet.

Rahan,

i know man. i'm sharing the same sentiment. until something really is moving on a right direction i will remain doubtful. but at the same time i'm hopeful that things will finally be in order.
