AA OK

Maybe I was being abit harsh on Air Asia some weeks earlier. Hey, they deserved it. But as I flipped through the papers today I was in for a pleasant surprise. One particular headline got my attention, and it reads;

EASIER FOR DISABLED TO FLY AIR ASIA SOON. And I actually read the whole report.

According to its CEO, that Datuk Tony guy, the low-cost carrier will be spending something like RM6m to provide services for the disabled pessengers. And get this, they have even planned to go a step further by employing the disabled to understand better of our (the disabled community) needs on flights.

Some of the services they’ll be unpgrading are placing ambulifts at their hubs here in KLIA and Kota Kinabalu, use aisle wheelchairs to get the disable to their seats, and would even get their engineers’ asses down and get some seats removed to cater to pessengers in vege state in emergency cases.

Kudos to AA for its quick response. I think all this rivalry thing between them and MAS will only provide better services fot the people afterall. Fat chance I know, but we might even get to fly for free in the future. Just get a wheelchair, crippled your damn limbs and fingers and you’re off.

Yo, Tony and Idris, take note, fellas.

In the mean time, in three months time or so you crips can look forward to really fly with them conveniently. Yes, that soon. Lets start the count-down.

Let's give them a group-hug. I'll take the ones in red and you guys can have what's left.

Bagus lah macam tu bro. Tony ni memang media savvy. And peka. He has gotten himself involved with some real bad company (not the band, which I love) but I hope he can change them instead of the other way round, or at least remain himself, which will be damn hard to do.

And you, continue to do your stuff, man. I believe that you made a difference in this case. I still am in touch with Tony now and then, and I have alerted him to your postings (and other sightings by other bloggers, too).

Cheers mate.

p.s. u colour blind? i don't see no red in that picture.

rocky, thanks bro.

AA should have thought about it in the first place if they were to compete with the other local airliner. but by responding almost immediately is commendable and should be praised. i'm all for improvement.

i have been informed about the 25th do and hope to be able to make it. lets call paul rodgers and the BC for a gig there. haha...

p/s those AA chics are wearing red la geng.

Kerp,

I was recently inside AirAsia's office at the low cost terminal. I would label them 'cosmopolitan in composition'. Also, they appear liberal in outlook if I were to judge from the staff composition. Certainly I am more conservative in my recruitment and office attire rules!

AirAsia providing these ambulifts only at the hubs. Meaning, non hub destination not available. AirAsia should provide at all their destinations.

That's only the proper way!

bogdogdotcom, sabar sabar le. Ni baru announce, kita tengok perkembangan depa dulu no.

As for kerp: Hey! The limits only to 4! I'll take the 2nd from right. Put it this way: I'm easing you off a lovely burden - Amir

Smokeyyyyy,

It’s the other way round, they group-hugged me, all 5 of them and yes, you can share datuk with the rest…hahha..thanks, sis.

Bro Botak,

Office attire sounds kinky to me no matter how conservative one may be.

Just checking, those AA chics pictured, they’re all in red, arent they?

Big bro,

Altho we, the disabled community, has the right to push our luck, given the immediate attention from the big boss himself, its really looking up and I believe they will add more in due course.

Magelan Sutera would be an ideal destination for a start.

Amir brader,

Yes, pelan-pelan kayuh. 3 months is way sooner than I expected infact. Let the guys from BEATS be the judge.

BTW, 4 ke, 5 ke, I know I’ll screw up….kahkahh

Thank you all.

Salam Kerp

Here for the first time. Should have wheeled here faster/earlier. Love your writings!

I will share your blog with my 11 yr old soon today (but errr, I'll have to skip the one with that healthy finger advert and that bit of his mom a whore! Hishh... jgn le salahkan ibu mengandung dear....)

BTW, we do have small fraction of PhD at my workplace. And yes, they are only PhD but they are amongst our best customer service staff on board.

Now reading your blog and witnessing your flair for writing, it made me thinking of another avenue how we can further enhance our employment diversity with PhD who have talents for creative writing.

Every little helps!

Cheers bro, take care!

p/s Memang merah la depa tu. Rocky saja buat "red" herring ... hehehe

p/s I've linked your blog to mine, permissi ya?

Salam kerp:

I read that piece and felt relieve. At least AA is trying to solve the problem. I do hope it will become a reality and extended to more destination as per Bro Bigdogdotcom wanted.

I rarely use public transportation, but the few times i was in KL and used the LRTs, I noticed at certain stations, there is no special stairs/elevators/lift for wheelchairs right? I might be wrong but thats what I noticed.

Keep on fighting the the rights of OKU bro.

Ibu,

I’m flattered to have you here and and to be linked-up at CERITA IBU is a real honour.

I’m all for any effort to get the disabled strut their stuff out in the mainstream world. Your workplace is only one of very few that selects candidates based on the contents of their resume and not their physical outlooks. We really need more companies like yours. Hats off.

Oh, and err…it may not be too suitable for your son’s viewing la ibu. I admit I have no excuse for that but rest assured, minimal cussing mode will be activated effectively. But everyone’s welcome here.

Thank you.

Tokasid,

i couldn’t agree more. They’re taking the initiative to improve on their services and their effort to cater the needs of the disabled is commendable. That proves they’ve been listening.

Admittedly, there are some inaccessible stations but all places of public interests are disabled-friendly. But still they have a wholotta rooms for improvement.

Thank you so much for your support, tokasid and Ibu.

Unc B,

Yes, abit of cussing helps, and wouldn’t do any harm just to get the message across.

Let me know if you’re going down tomorrow evening, just a shout out by the window would do.

Daph,

Its ok, you can share datuk tony with la cucaracha. Sharing is caring…hihi..
