Torn Between Two Lovers

Ok this is not for the non-fan but finally the new 07/08 EPL season got under way last Saturday after three (long) months break. And I just got to write something about it.

Initially the reason I got into blogging was simply that. I had plenty of time at my disposal and football-less nights made it even more miserable. But the good thing that came out of it was I managed to spend more quality hours with my girl on every each of our Saturday night outings during the off-season.

You see, my girlfriend knows nuts about football and had wished I was the type who prefers going for a movie than to be glued on footies during weekends. Tough luck there. Altho I can feel for her sometimes, most of the time I just cant help it.

Once, towards the end of last season, we were really at each other’s throat while having dinner together at an exclusive place. It was supposed to be a special day or something. But since it fell on match-day where Arsenal were involved against one of the big teams, my mind was never there at the dinner table but instead roaming somewhere at the Emirates Stadium where the game was in the thick of the action. Until someone smses me to let in on the final result, my mind stays in North London. One thing about her, when she’s really pissed, I know she’ll switch on her elegant-silent mode and I’ll be left to dry. Come to think of it, maybe to be yelled at isnt so bad.

So anyway from Arsenal’s view-point, we had a perfect start. I’m not gonna bomb this blog on football that much but some of the gooners had organised a small get-together. It was an impromptu but we still managed to get a dozen for the opening match. Ultimately, the team did not disappoint despite an early scare. And here I am smiling while writing this.

I have promised her I WILL TRY to watch matches as less as I could this season. But since Saturdays is ‘our’ day, I am just glad today’s Sunday.

Gooners...

Why like that? She's really nice, your sweetheart to be so understanding and tolerant...

If me, you'll get a full blast of my all-famous glare (in my case, glare means mata sepet hilang terus lar)...Hehe...

And for the record, I understand nuts about football too! 22 sweaty (and smelly!) men after one ball...*Shrugs*

daph,

i know i havent been fair to her. but i've promised to make it up to her by watching only games that features my favourite team.

you know what, the glare, the stare and the silent-treatment, they're all capable of sending the chill down my crooked spine. so i might aswell give in before i pee in my pants. hahaha...

Men will be men, women will be women. Then there's the devil: He'll whisper into your ears so that men and women will go for each other throats! Hehe, aren't we all at it already? - Amir.

ps. I agree with you bro, the silent treatment is worse than being yelled at! - Amir

Bro, my advice to you: you beli aerplug( macam swimmers guna tu). Bila gi outing/dating during Arsenal game, do plug your ears and just smile to what ever she said.

Amacam, boleh?
Lets see how Arsenal will fare wothout Henry this season.

bro amir,

finally someone who shares the same sentiment. whats even worse abt this silent treatment is that it can go on and on and the one at the receiving end will be haunted with guilt. i know i have. it shld really serve as a deterrent.

tok,

real good idea la. but the only problem is, my girlfriend has been reading your comment and this good idea since this afternoon. she was the one alerted me and we had a laugh...hahaha..

big bro,

i found about you being a non-ManU fan since your MyKmu days.

and siince i know there are ManU fans reading this blog, i shall refrain myself from making any -anti-ManU comments. thanks. haha...

thanks guys. lovely to have you here.

Kerp, I really like you man for not entertaining Man U haters.

Call me the devil but hey only one weekend game a week man and that too only for 2 friggin hours and she can have you for the rest of the night man.

Tell you what, call her out on Friday nights and treat her to all that she wants, I am sure she'll feel guilty about calling you on Saturday or Sunday night. If you sense she still wants you out with her on Saturday or Sunday night then take her out for a movie, a picnic a anything on Saturday or Sunday afternoon, faint fatigue at the end of the date and I am sure she'll let you off.

Cikgu,

To her, 2 freakin’ hours is like forever and I can never watch the game in peace. But as I’ve said in one of my posts, take her out on Saturday afternoons, give in to all her fancies and hopefully when the game starts, she’ll leave me in peace for just 2 hours. That actually works but only sometimes. And thank God champions league matches are normally kicked off in the wee hours on midweeks. Pheww…

Hey, I can never be vocal about my take on ManU. My dad, my bro, my uncles all ManU’s. and their latest addition, my 6 year-old nephew, Ahmad Izz ‘wayne’, just cant get enough of your number 10.

I would have been there on Sunday watching with you but you know where I was before I attended the twin's birthday bash. From 9am as Manager of the Twin Towers Dart Team comprising Rocky and Alliedmaster Tony Yew at the Annual Press Club Dart Tournament. No I dont dart, I manage them and serve my boys the necessary brew that goes with darts. Nine to four pm "serving" beer took a toll after the party. The bath was so refreshing that while waiting to go down to join you guys, I dozed off. Twin towers were doubles champ and Rocky Singles Champ.
