Movie 5s

Ok here’s a quickie. I thought I’d take a cue from them Scousers, listing down my 5 all-time favorite movies. I’m not much a movie buff so unlike the island 5 albums, this time it wouldn’t be tough a choice to make.

Ok this is another tag I admit. I can never hide this little fetish I developed since I was first tagged by Daphne only after a couple of weeks into my blogging life. Do however, bear with me for the next few posts as there are a couple more tags lined up.

So here goes. Those who may have not caught any of the flicks listed yet, no assurance you guys gonna dig it. These movies are strictly my taste.

Now lets get down to it.

Goodfellas (1990) – A crime for any Gangster-movie fan to skip this one out.

Inside I’m Dancing/Rory O’Shea Was Here (2004) – A must-watch for all cacat fellas who are wheelchair-bound.

Dumb and Dumber (1994) – Carrey’s antics may not appeal to some but his silliness simply cracks me up.

Simpsons, The Movie (2007) – Its just gotta happen eventually. An animated tv show with a whopping 17 seasons under its belt to finally make it to the silver screen.

Without A Paddle (2004) – WAP’s an adventure film, a parody of Deliverance with a similar story line. Chose this over SLC Punk!. Incidentally both has Matthew Lilard as the main cast. I’m quite a fan of Lilard except the one in Scooby-Doo where he took the role of Shaggy. A complete retard if you ask me.

Gotta run again now. I’ve got at least half a day of weekend to savor still. Feel free to add your all-time favs, guys. It would be tough for avid movie fans, but that makes it even more interesting.
You there, and you, you and yes you too, you’re all tagged. And Tinesh, you too my man.

Big bro,

That’s quite a long list and very serious stuff you got there, boss. And I only caught less than quarter of the movies listed. Obviously you’re a movie-buff. Thanks for sharing nonetheless.

MS bro,

No, none of the porn movies seen so far deserve the top 5. not even close to my top 50. Inside I’m dancing is a non-mainstream movie fyi. and I can really dig it. so just bring it on, I’m game. Do let us know once you’re not tied up with any family matter. We’ll have a session@ Kayu. Convenient for all.

Cikgu,

You can never fail to crack me up la…hehehe…

Like you, I pick Return of the Jedi as the best amongst the 6 episodes.

Other then Goodfellas, I dont think we can ever go watch a movie together. I probably hurt you or something. I am a movie buff. I shun Hollywood blockbusters and only watch, old-skoll/intellectually-laddedn movies. Saying that I am an artsy=fartsy-pseudo-intellectual-poser.

Now you know.

Although, I am very curious to watch your second movie. Kat kedai ada jual kan?

To bigdogdotcom:

I am very impressed with your list. Very.

Bridge Too Far, Notting Hill, Mickey Blue Eyes,A Fish Called Wanda, Fugitive, Thirteen Days, Few Good Men, The Castle, V for Vendetta and musicals too?

We can be buddies!

And oh go watch Green Street Hooligans. Bet you'll love it. As for musicals, My Fair Lady? Good pick. Have you watched Singin in the Rain? That's my favourite. Gene Kelly at his finest.

Kerp, Minta laluan......

Constant Drama,

We should! Seriously, we should :)

I like "Singing in the Rain" song, but not the movie (Infact, I have it on MP3 and I often listen to it while driving).

I also like "Chicago".

Something amiss in my list is "Bridget Jones Diary". Often I imagine if I was a thirty-something woman and living in working class London, I'd be Bridget Jones anytime!

I also see myself as Will Freeman (as portayed by Hugh Grant) in "About a boy" :)

Cikgu,

Lt. Col. Frank M Slade, US Army, is it? "Hoowaaa!" :)

kerp/kata tak nak....Debbie goes Dallas was one of my first
"x" movie..in colour.
Previously....I need to go to S'pore shopping complex to buy them..all pirated copies...not clear...and each cost RM350.
Now..anyone can get it for RM5-6....per DVD.
In a way...pirated tapes should be allowed.....as originals are making too much money.
Similar to the music industry.
Best if one get caught..should not settle privately. Should go to court and ask what are they being sued for...by the writer...by the cameraman.......by the director.....producer??? If so..produce the proofs. No proofs......case thrown out......hahahahaha

CDO,

My mind tends to have other idea instead of concentrating on any serious stuff, and that includes movies of that genre. But I think you’ll love Rory O’Shea Was Here. its an Irish independent film drama about 2 wheelchair-bound friends with contrast personality.

Not sure about its availability but can always find out from your fav abeng.

Big bro,

The floor’s all yours man. after all you guys are so into movies.

Mr goh,

Nowadays you only need 8 bucks to enjoy latest movies with good quality. Forget about purchasing the original stuff, the producers are making millions anyway.

Kerp, minta lalu sikt ya.
Biggum, Pacino Samuael L Jackson Morgan Freeman are my 3 top actors. I also go for quacks like Jim Carey. I don't watch too many movies though. I don't like the idea of the censors butchering the film and at home I just can't get enough peace and quiet. I demand total silence when I watch a movie so there goes my chance of ever enjoying any at home.

From your list, you've got taste.

Kerp, Minta laluan tambahan......

Cikgu KTN,

Pacino, Jackson and Freeman are accomplished actors.

I tremendously enjoyed their performances. Jackson is expressive, just like Pacino, whilst Freeman is simply ice cold, sometime casual.

I also love Tommy Lee Jones (As Dep Marshall Sam Gerard "Fugitive"), Harrison Ford (As Dr. Indiana Jones and President Jim Marshall, "Air Force One"), Ed Harris (As Gene Krantz "Apollo 13" and Christof "Truman Show"), Kenneth Branagh (Reich Protector Reinhard Heydrich in "Conspiracy" and Dr. Arliss Loveless in "Wild Wild West"), Dougray Scott (Lord Halifax in "To Kill A King"), Mel Gibson (Benjamin Martin in "Patriot" and Tom Mullen in "Ransom"), Charlton Heston (As Capt. Paul Blanchard in "Grey Lady Down" and Capt. Matt Garth in Midway"), Robert Redford (Lt. Gen Eugene Irwin in "The Castle", Tom Logan "Legal Eagles", John Gage in "Indecent Proposal"), Michael Douglass (Pres. Andy Sheppard in "American President", Tom Sanders "Disclosure"), Tom Hanks (Forest Gump, Joe Fox "You've Got Mail", Victor Nabroski "Terminal", Paul Edgecomb "Green Mile"), Sean Connery (Maj. Gen. Roy Urquhart "A Bridge Too Far"), Anthony Hopkins (Ptolemy "Alexander", Richard M Nixon "Nixon", William Parish "Meet Joe Black", Peter O'Toole (Sir Cedric C. Willingham "King Ralph", Maj. Gen. Lord Chelmsford "Zulu Dawn", Reginald F. Johnston "The Last Emperor"), not specifically in that order.

My all time Shakespearan actor is Patrick Stewart, but I like his portrayal of Captain John Luc Picard of the NCC 1701E, "Enterprise".

I also adore John Cleese, Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Kevin Kline, Stephen Fry and some of Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy.

I must bore the hell of most in here!

Biggum,
Wow that's quite a list. Well I guess the bottom line is, they must be able to really act, to really assume the role, that's why I don't go much for Malay movies maybe with the acception of Azean, Datok Rahim Razali and a forgotten fellow, Ahmad yatim. Do like Afdlin Shauki though.
